Transcending the Temporal
In this series it was important for me to interface with something that transcended the temporal. Because of the recent and rapid change that we have witnessed in the world, I sought the kinship of the trees in the forest that speaks to my soul of a kind of essential stability and permanence.
Exploring this connection with nature was an antidote for the loss of connection I felt with society during the pandemic and lockdown.
Through the use of photomontage, I layered together two or more of my straight captures to create an ethereal sense of the ordinary. Dissolving boundaries, I reveal a mystical connection and a grounding to something more permanent.
My aim was to capture this rarified quality of lightness to counter a world that feels heavy with loss and uncertainty. Through these images, I affirm a connection to something beautiful, larger and profound.
